Organizing body, Hands Up for Trad have announced the artists shortlisted for this year’s MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. Many of the artists and bands nominated have featured on Folk Radio UK over the past year.

Watch the video for ‘Life is a Drag’, the new single from Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra. The single is due for release this Friday, November 9 and will also be featured on their upcoming album ‘Soul of My City’.

On January 25, William Tyler returns with Goes West, his follow-up to 2016’s Modern Country. Listen to the first single “Fail Safe”. The album was recorded with Scott Hirsch at Echo Magic West in Ojai, CA.

Lisa Knapp will be performing Till April is Dead this week on Thursday, 8th November at London’s The Albany. It promises to be a very special evening as she will be performing with a full band. Not to be missed.

Kathryn Williams announces a new boxset – Kathryn Williams Anthology. She has been compiling the release over the past couple of years and it covers her work from Dog Leap Stairs to Hypoxia and everything in-between.

Salt House fans will be pleased to learn that they are getting down to some new writing next week. They have some concert dates this month and have also just announced a Celtic Connections show on Jan 31st followed by a German tour in March.

As the WWI centenary events wind down, the Lancastrian folk trio Harp and a Monkey are preparing to undertake a run of performances that are likely to provide audiences with the last chance to see the ‘War Stories’ show performed in its entirety for quite some time.
