A new eclectic mix featuring new tracks from Luke Daniels, Emma Gatrill, Yorkston Thorne Khan as well as music from Ursina, Nadine Khouri, Adam Torres, Sarah Olivier, Suzanne Schmid, Keto, Various Guises and more.

For Winter Solstice, Michael Tanner treats us to a collection of hymns, carols, folk standards and field-recordings from the past 800 years. Whether it’s the pointed, bird-like quality of Jean Ritchie’s bare-branch voice or the hollow, reverent filigree of Dolly Collins portative organ, something about their use of minimalism perfectly captures the stark landscape, stripped of colour and commotion.

Whilst not a full-on festive offering, our latest mix does contain some festive cheer from Steve Tilston & Maggie Boyle, Tim Laycock, Richard Farina With Blind Boy Grunt (better known as Bob Dylan) & Eric Von Schmidt, and some top-notch wassailing from John Kirkpatrick. Plus classics from the likes of John Martyn, Sandy Denny, Hamish Imlach and Richard Thompson and some great new music and a wee delve into Topic …

This week’s mix features all new music, some of which is yet to be released. The one thing they all share is that they push the boundaries in terms of creating original music, and it is this which sets this particular playlist apart.

Some fine vintage folk in this week’s mix from the likes of Sandy Denny, Michael Raven and Joan Mills, Skara Brae and more. There is some dabbling in psych courtesy of Ben Tweddell’s Twelve Hides which was released in August as well as Toby Hay’s new EP which we recently featured in an exclusive first listen. All this and lots more along with extensive track notes.

It’s a pretty eclectic mix this week, within, it is upbeat, crazy, chaotic, rebellious, mellow and unexpected. The tunes are a response recent events.

Our latest mix is chock full of new music from the likes of Nessi Gomes, Lisa Hannigan, Ruth Theodore, Kaia Kater, The Gentle Good and more plus some vintage tunes from Led Zeppelin (live in Paris), The Amazing Blondel and Tim Hardin.

This weeks mix finds a strong Scottish contingent including two of Lau’s players with tracks from Aidan O’Rourke’s latest Imprint (E.P Series 2.0) and Martin Green’s Flit. Also included are two tracks from recently reviewed albums from Trail West and Iona Fyfe Band.
