Hey Rosetta! recorded a session for La Blogotheque in San Francisco. In the words of Art Perez at La Blogotheque: I found myself having to give this band a chance. I needed to listen to something new. They were cunning and heart wrenching. Polite and angry. Happy and sad. Their lyrics were smart and their melodies were powerful. They weren’t just something “new” they were something “great”.

Springs is the new brainchild of guitarist and vocalist Mike Visser. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa he spent 8 years in California playing with the band Frank Jordan and touring the United States. After that project dissipated, he bounced from Sacramento, CA to Shwanksville, PA before settling in Brooklyn and setting to work on new material.

Sarah Blasko recently performed at The Flowerpot in London, collaborating with Angus & Julia Stone as part of a Communion Club Night. The extension of the Communion umbrella to Australia has resulted in some fine artists joining the ranks for extra exposure in Europe. Sarah Blasko is certainly one to watch out for. Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn And John fame produced her latest album As Day Follows Night. Her …

The weekends have always been about chillin’ and relaxing, taking some time out, enjoying your freedom! Or at least that’s how I remember them from many moons ago. Here’s some Frukie goodness to help you along or to recover from the night before: Blitzen Trapper, one of my favourite tracks – Black River Killer

When First Aid Kit came to the UK recently our London based reviewer, Melanie, managed to have a lovely pre-show talk with them before their show at The Garage. If you missed Melanie’s pre-show interview and gig review then read it here (plus some great photos from Michael on the night). They have since headed on over to the states where they have had a lovely welcome from the good …

Quadron is a child that’s been made by Coco and Robin. Both were part of the soul collective “Boom Clap Bachelors” who in early 2008 secured much respect and success with their debut “Kort Før Dine Læber”. Here they began their collaboration, and Robin fell for Coco’s beautiful voice and ability to improvise with playful ease.

Futurebirds released their debut album, Hampton’s Lullaby, on Autumn Tone Records on 27th July. The label sum them up nicely: Covered in kudzu and swathed in a blanket of humidity, Spanish moss, feedback and reverb exists Futurebirds.

Grubby Little Hands hail from Philidelphia and released Imaginary Friends back in October last year. Despite having had an album out there for nearly a year they still seem to maintain a low profile. We were pleasantly surprised when we heard them and I’m sure Fukie fans out there will agree they have something special!

On a cloudy wet and dismal third day at the Pitchfork Festival the good folks at YT took it upon themselves to take Here We Go Magic to a more sheltered location where they performed the track Casual from their album Pigeons for Pitchfork TV. You can here more from Here We Go Magic on our Frukie stream from next week!
