Interviews

Despite musical beginnings a decade ago in Athens, Georgia under the moniker Fillup Shack, Matthew Houck’s better known Phosphorescent guise only recently crept out of the woodwork with acclaimed 2007 LP Pride, the lo-fi, haunted tones of which earmarked him as an artist of a similar highly praised songwriting stature to Will Oldham and Iron & Wine’s Samuel Beam.

Swedish sisters First Aid Kit’s “Happy 10th Birthday Wichita” show at The Garage proved the pair, still under 20 years old, to be growing masters of the narrative driven story songs they grew up listening to. We caught up with Klara and Johanna Söderberg before their show for a brief chat about Swedish folk music, their influences and plans to expand their line up:

I caught up with her recently for a relaxed chat about where she is now with her music and to reflect back on her last album “Hill of Thieves” which was released last year. Hill of Thieves has been making big impressions across the globe and pulling in new fans to …

Some of you may, or may not, have heard about Commuinon which is both a record label and club night which is getting a lot of attention right now. The label are about to release a compilation album which we recently featured in a mix. The artists that feature on the album have a massive creative force that, for me at least, places Communion in a spotlight.
