We recommend Elspeth Anne on Bandcamp Friday – she has some live dates coming up supporting the excellent Jacken Elswyth. Also, watch a live video of her performing the traditional lullaby ‘Heap of Horses’ with Helen Melon.

Sylvan Weekends is a new alt-folk-pop trio combining the creative spirits of Matthew (Keston Cobblers Club/Stables), Freya, and Daniel (Stables). Watch the video for their new single, Symmetry. Don’t miss their UK tour in May.

Cambridge Folk Festival has just made its first lineup announcement for 2023 – what is probably one of its most diverse offerings to date. Including Ibibio Sound Machine, Lady Blackbird, Catrin Finch and Cimarrón, Angeline Morrison, Oi Va Voi, Arrested Development, Angélique Kidjo and lots more.

Julian Taylor, one of the finest voices in contemporary Canadian folk music is on tour in the UK now following the release of his album Beyond the Reservoir. Not to be missed.

Our Song of the Day is Latin White, the new single from Xylouris White. The short vibrant dance piece is taken from their new album, The Forest In Me. Watch the accompanying video by Rebecca E. Marshall.

Featuring a guest appearance from Jerry Douglas, ‘Sonny’s Dream’ is the first single from Daoirí Farrell’s upcoming fourth album, ‘The Wedding Above In Glencree’. I’ve never heard Farrell sound so good, which is why I’ve no hesitation in making this our Song of the Day.

For her new album Domestic Sphere, Josephine Foster performs solely with her electric guitar; watch the accompanying video for her lead single, Pendulum. “These songs are vigils, melodies sung intently, to be set aflame and sung off with the wind.”

The Little Unsaid is to release a 15-track live album titled Live At The Pound. It was recorded at Pound Arts in Corsham at the end of a difficult 2022 tour for an online concert, watch them performing Milltown and Big Red.

Our Song of the Day is taken from ‘The Portable Herman Dune Vol 2’. Watch ‘Undiscarded Jacaranda’, one of the only Herman Dune songs ever written with a chorus in French, sung by his partner Mayon Hanania. This could easily become a timeless classic.
