Our Song of the Day comes from Portland, Oregon’s Anna Tivel with ‘Fenceline’ from her new album The Question – out April 19th on Fluff and Gravy Records.

This Is How We Fly have wowed audiences all over Ireland, the US and Europe. Formed by Irish fiddle player Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh they head out on tour across Ireland, plus a date at London’s Barbican Centre. Watch them in action.

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Reg Meuross has joined artistic forces with author Brian W Lavery to present ’12 Silk Handkerchiefs’ which tells in music, narration and pictures, the story of Hull’s 1968 triple trawler disaster and subsequent uprising led by fighting fishwife Mrs Lillian Bilocca.

Armagh will be alive from 15 to 18 November with the sounds of reeds, chanters and drones from all over the world as it celebrates the 25th anniversary of the William Kennedy Piping Festival. It will feature an incredible lineup.

Currently mid-way through an 11-date US tour, British singer-songwriter Roo Panes has today released a Chris Thomas directed video to go with his latest single ‘Ophelia’ which premieres on Folk Radio UK.

The Young’uns present a new and unique piece of modern folk theatre – The Ballad of Johnny Longstaff is the story of one man’s adventure from begging on the streets in the north of England to fighting against fascism in the Spanish Civil War, taking in the Hunger Marches and the Battle of Cable Street.

Newly Commissioned by the Scots Fiddle Festival, The Four Pillars is a multi-media experience and musical suite from Scottish musician Mike Vass which premieres on Friday 16th November at the Pleasance Theatre, Edinburgh.

While on tour, Dublin-based singer Lisa O’Neill visited the childhood home of John Lennon in Liverpool. While there, Lisa, accompanied by two supporting musicians, performed the popular traditional ballad Leaving of Liverpool which is also our Song of the Day.

Our song of the Day comes from Paul Sartin, Benji Kirkpatrick and Saul Rose who collectively make up the English folk trio Faustus. Watch their new video for The Death of the Hart Royal a mythological tale in which The Lord of the Greenwood – Robin Hood – encounters a dying stag.
