The London Word Festival is a pioneering, annual celebration of words, text and language; daring in its approach to cross-artform programming, commissioning new work and exploring non-traditional spaces.

Bill Callahan dropped by NPR for a Tiny Desk Concert in the summer last year so I thought I’d share this seeing as he has a new live album out which I posted about here. Settle back and enjoy this lovely concert on which he plays three great intimate tracks:

We selected some videos to show of some of the highlights of this year’s Homegame which is the Fence Collective highlight of the year in Anstruther, Scotland. These are just a very small handful

On Among The Oak & Ash, Pennsylvania-born New Yorker Josh Joplin and the Mississippi-bred, Nashville-based Garrison Starr lend their distinctive voices to a dozen folk songs

It was by complete chance that I came across this release. The chain of events that led me to it are not worthy of a mention, honest. My initial thoughts were that I must have missed something somewhere, I did.

Things are hotting up for Coco Rosie with their new album, Grey Oceans due for release in May 2010. They have this to say about their new album:

Kila perform live at St.Mary’s Collegian Church in Youghal to launch their 2010 album Soisín. Kila performed the sound track for the 2010 Oscar nominated animated feature ‘The Secret of Kells’.

The latest record from Baltimore based duo Beach House is their best and most complete yet. Teen Dream is just that, a dream of a record that rekindles the tender wide-eyed sentiment of a teenager open and ready for the world ahead.

Talk about a transformation. In a move motivated by nothing more than the need to try something new, Casey Dienel transformed her piano-led White Hinterland project from a pitch-dark jazz revue to a looking-glass take on the bleeding-edge of pop music.

Yes folks we have a new guest mix, this time from Arran Arctic who can be heard on our Frukie stream. So a bit about this mysterious character:
