Hoodman Blind are an Irish trio hailing from Limerick, Clare and Wexford who create a musical landscape that brings an array of colours and shades to the tradition. They are Finn Harper on Button Accordion, Niamh Ní Bhriain on Harp and Sean O’Dalaigh on Fiddle.

It is the exploratory feel of Mjelva and Rydvall’s playing that makes Vårdroppar something special, something transcends musical fashion. It has an almost jazzy quality to it, seemingly at odds with the traditional nature of the material.

Our Song of the Day comes from Alejandra Ribera with Orlando. A song she wrote during the recording of her new album offered in tribute to the victims of the recent Florida events and also to help those affected by these and similar events cope with their loss.

The Smugglers Trail is an Arts Council England supported travelling eco-festival focusing on sustainability and folk and roots music. The events all take place on common or community owned land, making this an event for everyone.

JD Edwards and Cara Luft may have been thrown together entirely by accident but it’s a partnership that, in Wondrous Traveler, has produced beautiful, moving, energetic music.
