Brighton and Hove Folk Festival have made an appeal for your help. The festival is set to run on September 10th but unless they call sell 80 tickets within 10 days they won’t be able to go ahead. Their lineup includes Martin & Eliza Carthy, Gwenifer Raymond, Rachael Dadd and Bird in the Belly.

If you look deeper at Jacken Elswyth’s Six Static Scenes, it is a celebration of the other, the road not taken, and as such, it shows just how much scope there is for finding new and unrestricted paths in folk music.

Brìghde Chaimbeul, Ross Ainslie and Steven Byrnes Haberlin have teamed up on the collaborative album LAS. The album is out Friday 2 September, the self-penned instrumental album is the first album of double C smallpipes to be released in the world.

Touchingly poetic, Fritillaries is an enthrallingly scenic, tranquil and fruitful debut. Gorgeously produced, Pawson’s redolent and crystalline voice, accompanied by roots-inspired banjo and Wynne’s earthy mandolin, proves to be an intoxicating mix. A delightful listen.
