This week’s Monday Morning Brew Playlist and Newsletter is stacked with new releases, including Clara Mann‘s latest single, taken from her forthcoming second album Wishbone, out October 23rd via state51. There are also two tracks from Reunion, the new album from Mama’s Broke (Amy Lou Keeler and Lisa Maria), our Artists of the Month for August (read Tom’s album review here).
Elsewhere there are some proper curios: a 1969 world-fusion one-off from The Orient Express, a 1968 Musique concrète-inspired oddity called Transformer by David Stoughton (a Billboard Special Merit Pick at the time), and a reissue of Eddy Detroit‘s private-press cult record Immortal Gods, cut in the early-80s Phoenix underground scene.
North Carolina’s folk scene gets a look-in too, with tracks from Magic Tuber Stringband, Weirs and The Powers Ensemble – the newsletter also features an episode of Thrill Jockey‘s Deep Digs video series, where Magic Tuber Stringband pick favourites from the label’s back catalogue including Steve Gunn & The Black Twig Pickers, Marisa Anderson and Sarah Louise.
