Riding high on the back of their acclaimed recently released album Forever, Chicago’s Glyders have announced a run of European and UK dates this April and May — and to mark the occasion, Joshua Condon and Eliza Weber have dropped a new video for fan-favourite opener Super Glyde.
The clip is directed by renowned cinematographer and director Eon Mora, who blends the loosely structured semi-improvisation of Jarmusch’s Mystery Train with the hi-tension obsession of Coppola’s neo-noir The Conversation, resolving into an almost-Jungian stalk of the protagonists’ journey to… somewhere unknown. It’s a fitting visual companion for a track that, as we noted in our review of Forever, “honours a classic rock tradition of bands announcing themselves with a self-referencing statement of intent.”
Super Glyde sets the tone for an album that crackles with the energy of a band that has found its footing. With drummer Joe Seger completing the line-up ahead of Forever‘s recording, the trio locked into a chemistry honed across months of relentless touring — across the US and Europe — and captured at their own studio in Chicago’s Humboldt Park. The result is 36 minutes of voltage-enhanced excitement, with Super Glyde leading the charge as Condon sings about going for “quite a ride” while Weber twirls the bass lines into a giddy spin.
Now Glyders are packing the party wagon for a fresh set of shows across the continent. Whether you’re in Paris, Prague, Porto or anywhere in between, tickets are available now.
