Recorded and filmed live at Bill Laswell’s Orange Studios, the Manhattan-based collective Nevaris (led by Agustín “AC” Nevaris) have shared “Remedy – Live,” a potent second glimpse into their forthcoming SoundSession EP (out February 27th), a project that prioritises the raw, synchronous energy of a nine-piece ensemble over digital perfection. A masterclass in cinematic soundscapism, they weave together jazzy saxophone, the sharp turntablism of DJ Logic, and floating lap-guitar textures, all anchored by Jonathan Maron’s fluid basslines.
The result is aptly described as a “healing groove,” seamlessly bridging Afro-Latin, dub, and funk. Captured in a single session with no overdubs or edits, the recording features a heavyweight lineup. This improvisational approach honours the influences of legends like Miles Davis and Lee “Scratch” Perry while maintaining a modern, soulful edge.
Watch the live video below, featuring Agustín Nevaris (timbales), Jojo Kuo (percussion), Peter Apfelbaum (Sax), DJ Logic (turntables), Will Bernard (guitar), Jonathan Maron (bass), Lockatron (drums), Angel Rodriguez (congas), and Matt Dickey (guitar).
The session was filmed by Michael Black and recorded by James Dellatacoma at Orange Sound.
As Nevaris notes, the title “Remedy” speaks to the power of music to heal the mind and body during troubled times, and this live session captures a moment of pure, real-time connection and creativity.
