My Precious Bunny, the solo project from Lily Wolter of dream-pop duo Penelope Isles, has announced her debut album A Moment In My Eyes, due out May 22nd via Bella Union. Stepping out on her own, Wolter crafts music that feels like a memory: sun-faded, sprawling, and deeply alive. To accompany the announcement, she’s shared a video for the album’s beguiling first single I Go Up, You Go Down.
The track emerged during the peak of lockdown at Wolter’s parents’ house in Penzance, Cornwall. “It was an observation of everything that was happening around me at the time: Going through a long-term breakup and moving in with my folks, watching the world collapse on the news,” she explains. “Amongst the chaos, I was entirely consumed by how terrible it is that you can share a bed with someone for years, being entirely each other’s world, then one day… you avoid one another in the street.”
Co-produced with childhood friend Allister Kellaway (Last Living Cannibal), A Moment In My Eyes shimmers with texture and feeling. Warped pop sensibilities collide with bursts of saxophone, warm analogue synths and restless guitars, all underpinned by raw choral power. The album benefits from Paul Gregory‘s (Lanterns On The Lake) mixing, which treats the dynamics “with such care, whilst giving it a rocket up its arse,” as Wolter puts it.
Born and raised on the Isle of Man, Wolter’s music feels inseparable from the landscape that shaped her. Originally named ‘KookieLou’, the project began when she was 16, but remained on the back burner while she focused on Penelope Isles. It wasn’t until lockdown struck that she found herself “blessed with 4 months of living at my parents’ house… with nothing to do except make demos and go surfing.”
