Charlotte Cornfield is entering a bold new era with the announcement of her sixth studio album, “Hurts Like Hell”, arriving March 27th via Merge Records. To celebrate, Cornfield has shared the record’s second single, “Living With It,” a hauntingly beautiful collaboration featuring the legendary Feist.
The track was born from a modern connection: a group chat for touring mothers. After dreaming of Feist’s involvement, Cornfield’s producer, Phil Weinrobe, helped bridge the gap. “She added her Feist magic to it, which is undeniable,” Cornfield notes. That magic is palpable as the two voices weave through a narrative of post-breakup stasis. With lyrics like, “Maybe I’m just better at living with it than you are / But I’m the one crying in my car,” Cornfield explores the grit beneath the surface of a painful memory.
The accompanying video, directed by Ali Vanderkruyk and Sara Melvin, features appearances by both artists, alongside Celia Green and Augusto Bitter.
“Hurts Like Hell” marks Cornfield’s first release since becoming a mother in 2023, a life change that shifted her perspective toward a more collaborative, expansive sound. Recorded at Sugar Mountain studio with a powerhouse band—including members of Palehound and Lake Street Dive—the album also features vocal contributions from Buck Meek and Christian Lee Hutson.
