Caminauta has shared the video for Encounters, the new single from her forthcoming debut album, Unseen Dimensions, due in March 2026 via Wayside & Woodland Recordings.
The South American field recording artist and sonic textualist spent several years living in an isolated coastal community on the Brazilian border, having left her hometown in Uruguay to fully commit to life as a composer and sound artist. It was there, in an old house by the sea, that Unseen Dimensions took shape — a record built from drone and ambient guitar tape loops, phone field recordings, and voice captured in the dark, in bed, in the middle of the night. The album navigates solitude, identity, and existentialism with a precision that only comes from having lived inside those questions for a long time.
Encounters distils much of what makes Caminauta’s practice so compelling. It is spare but not empty, its textures drawn from the landscape rather than imposed upon it. The accompanying video has a similar quality — unhurried, observational, quietly intimate.
Of the video, Caminauta shares: “Encounters video was the results of isolated walks by the beach coast near home. Encounters was inspired by my inner connection with the landscape and exploration of individual strength — back that time I’ve spent 3 years in total isolation making art and in my studio all time. Recordings are documentations with my phone.”
That instinct to document — to catch something real before it disappears — runs through everything here. Unseen Dimensions feels less like a debut album and more like a field report from the far edge of creative endurance: organic, kosmische, and quietly essential.
