Katherine Priddy, one of the most compelling voices on the contemporary British music scene, will release her third studio album, These Frightening Machines, on March 6 via Cooking Vinyl. This new record follows her highly acclaimed debut, The Eternal Rocks Beneath, and its 2024 successor, The Pendulum Swing, both of which established her as a formidable force in modern songwriting.
To coincide with the announcement, Priddy has released her latest single, “Hurricane,” accompanied by a striking music video directed by Jay Bartlett. The track represents a notable expansion of her signature sound, leaning into a sultry, atmospheric groove reflected in Bartlett’s late video. Speaking on the track’s origins, Priddy reveals it was born from a moment of literal environmental tension: “I actually came up with the bones for this song whilst taking shelter from a tornado in Nashville and listening to the sirens outside.” The song serves as a powerful metaphor for the kind of irresistible, destructive love that leaves havoc in its wake.

Produced by Rob Ellis (known for his work with PJ Harvey and Anna Calvi) and recorded at Middle Farm Studios in rural Devon, These Frightening Machines captures Priddy in a period of transition as she moves from her 20s into her 30s. The record is described as the most sonically varied of her career, exploring themes of identity, the vulnerability of relationships, and the “general ache of growing older.” The album features notable collaborations, including duets with American artist Torres on “Madeleine” and Richard Walters on “I’m Always Willing,” alongside contributions from multi-instrumentalist Ben Christophers.
In support of the release, Priddy will embark on a series of in-store appearances throughout early 2026, hitting major shops from Rough Trade Nottingham to Resident in Brighton. This will be followed by an extensive UK headline tour throughout April and May, including a return to London’s iconic Union Chapel and a homecoming show at Birmingham Town Hall. Reflecting on the new collection, Priddy suggests that the album is an acceptance of life as a work in progress: “If it strikes a match and casts a little light for anyone who has ever felt their body falter, their love waver, or time slip through their fingers, then that’s enough for me.”
