Recorded at Studio Toute Garnie in Montreal, QC, back in October this year, Eve Adams has released a new digital EP: Live at Studio Toute Garnie, available now via Bandcamp. The five tracks are all taken from “American Dust,” her ten-song desert requiem, released in August this year on Basin Rock, a profound exploration of solitude, resilience, and the enduring spirit of the American Dream.
In his review of the album, Mark Underwood concludes:
“American dust, then, acts as a motif for the passage of time. But there’s no mote in Eve Adams’ eye, as she’s clearly a songwriter with a keen sense for the visual, the album’s songs a cleverly worked juxtaposition of the intimate experience of the individual, contrasted with the vast expanse of the high desert American landscape. The arrangements may be spare and haunting at times, but are always in service of a vision which is evocative and made fully real.”
Adams has also shared live videos from the session, which you can watch below.
Eve Adams is joined by Bryce Cloghesy on piano, Sebastian Palfery on guitar, Alex Bourque on bass, and Joe Simmons on drums.
In Tom Johnson’s accompanying album notes, he wrote: “It’s not just dust—it’s American Dust, the kind that settles into the bones of a family and never leaves. I think about that dust as a symbol of the passage of time. I hope this album will be part of that same current, carrying forward for the next generations of my family to find. I’ve been lucky enough to have journals and poetry from my ancestors that documents their lives during times of pure hope and pure hardship. I’d like to think of this album as a contribution to that family history.”
