Italian singer-songwriter Marta Del Grandi offers a haunting and introspective glimpse into her forthcoming album, Dream Life (out January 30, 2026, via Fire Records), with her latest single and video, “Alpha Centauri.” Following the refined devotional pop of 2023’s Selva, the new album promises a more contemporary approach and more defined pop sound, which this third single perfectly illustrates.
“astute pop, experimental electronica, and driving modern folk ballads. It’s a mesmerising place.”
Rosie Miles (KLOF Mag Review of ‘Selva’)
“Alpha Centauri” is a captivating slice of pop magic that finds Del Grandi’s gorgeous vocal prowling in a deep nostalgia. Marta comments:
“Alpha Centauri was inspired by a book I read which reminded me of my high-school years. Suddenly memories I thought I didn’t have anymore came back very vividly. I loved writing about them and finding a connection with the stars. I also enjoyed writing an old-school horn section and groups of vocals that give a 70s vibe.”
For the accompanying live video below, Marta explains: “When I wrote ‘Alpha Centauri,’ it was all about the vocal harmonies from the very first draft. So I wanted to make something special, a live version both intimate and rich, to convey the warmth and the depth of the song.
“I’m so happy to share with you this little home session, recorded in my living room with my dear friends and inspirations Guinevere & Gaia Morelli (@gaiamorelllllli and @thisisguinevere). Do check their music, they’re a keeper!”

Del Grandi notes that while Selva felt like a poetic oil painting, Dream Life is more like a detailed photobook. This shift sees her songwriting become more defined and detailed, touching on political and social issues alongside a more explicit personal storytelling.
Following the previous singles “Antarctica” and “Neon Lights,” “Alpha Centauri” reaffirms the album’s surreal and somnambulant atmosphere. It’s a key piece in a ten-track panoramic snapshot that grapples with the growing awareness that we cannot fully control the future, casting personal hopes and aspirations against the immense backdrop of the stars. It’s an ethereal, yet deeply grounded journey, both poetic and intensely present.
…coming across with nods to the art pop masters of Laurie Anderson and Talking Heads, perhaps a little Radiohead and also the counter-culture folk rock artists of the 60s/70s redefining the folk song. One of the best sounding recordings I’ve heard all year.
