Liverpool-based UK duo King Hannah have announced a new, limited-edition 7″ single, set for release via their label City Slang on December 4th. The A-side, “This Hotel Room,” is a beautifully vulnerable, country-folk-tinged track, accompanied by a video that was directed by the duo’s Craig Whittle (watch below).
“This Hotel Room” is a hushed, nostalgic piece built around the harmonising vocals of the band’s core members, Hannah Merrick and Craig Whittle. It leans heavily into their love for classic folk and country, creating a timeless feel that is both tender and melancholic.
On the new track, King Hannah shares:
“Our favourite thing to do is sing together and harmonise and we wanted a song of our own that allowed us to do this, a song that sounded timeless and nostalgic and paid homage to the country-folk singers we love so much while still resonating as a King Hannah track. We’re always trying to capture an intimacy and write in a way that is personal and honest and reflective, and ‘This Hotel Room’ is no exception to this. To us it’s about the past and the future, about trying to find warmth and love in both of those things while also recognising the sadness and sense of loss inherent to both.”
This 7″ is a special release for collectors, limited to only 500 copies worldwide. Making it even more unique, each of the 500 sleeves has been hand-designed and hand-numbered by the band themselves, ensuring no two copies are alike.
The 7″ will feature “This Hotel Room” as the A-side, backed by a brand new cover of Gillian Welch’s classic “Look at Miss Ohio” on the B-side.
“This Hotel Room” is out now digitally, with the limited 7″ available to order.
