Irish duo Rezo are back with their emotionally charged new single, Nothing Else. This fresh track is the first offering from Colm O’Connell and Rory McDaid since their critically acclaimed third album, The Age of Self Help, dropped in July 2024. Watch the accompanying music video below.
Despite the physical distance separating them—O’Connell in Dublin and McDaid in Málaga, Spain—Rezo continues to forge deeply affecting music. Mixed and produced by the celebrated David Odlum (known for his work with Sam Smith, Paloma Faith, and Glen Hansard), their new single powerfully demonstrates their collective gift for crafting heartfelt melodies and poignant lyrics. The track carries the directness of Elliott Smith and the quiet majesty of eels and Villagers, positioning Rezo firmly within the alternative music landscape. O’Connell describes the single’s core theme as “big picture stuff – the abject tragedies of life and the power of love to overcome them,” a sentiment that resonates throughout the song’s raw, beautiful, and profoundly human sound.
This new release follows a recent collaboration with UK producer Sebastian Reynolds, whose remix of the Rezo track “Molotov” appeared on his New Beginnings album. With a history of widespread airplay, including BBC 6Music, BBC Scotland, and RTE Recommends, Rezo has garnered significant national and international acclaim. “Nothing Else” is poised to further cement their place as a must-watch act on the alternative Irish music scene.
Nothing Else is out now, available on streaming and Bandcamp.
