New York-based collective toso toso have announced their self-titled debut album, arriving on November 7, 2025, via the pioneering label Leaving Records (Julia Holter, Laraaji, Sam Gendel, Sam Wilkes, Sun Araw). The album promises an avant-pop sound that blurs the lines between structured composition and free improvisation, blending moments of furious energy with tender intimacy.
Alongside the announcement, the band has released their lead single, “lluvia de meteoritos” (meteor shower) featuring the striking vocals of isabel crespo pardo, who sings, “y me encandila / quedo tan cansado / qué hacer con el pasado / caigo como lluvia de meteoritos en la madrugada,” (stunned and in my exhaustion i wonder what can be made of the past, now / i fall like a meteor shower at dawn,) fusing personal emotion with celestial imagery. The track is immersive and immense, evoking its celestial namesake with reverberant strings and a slanted drumbeat that feels suspended in space.
Comprised of producer, drummer and sound designer Kabir Adhiya-Kumar, synth and keyboardist Rahul Carlberg, producer and guitarist Celia Hill, and the vocalist mentioned above, Isabel Crespo Pardo, toso toso formed in 2020 with a shared foundation in improvisation. Their collaborative process is built on trust and friendship, where a single idea can be stretched and reshaped until it’s transformed into something entirely new. This is definitely one that we’re looking forward to.
