This week’s Monday Morning Brew opens to a track from the new 4CD set, The Making Of Five Leaves Left, which chronicles the creation of Nick Drake‘s 1969 debut album. Authorised by the Nick Drake Estate, the collection features three discs of unaccompanied demos, studio outtakes, and over 30 previously unheard songs from the sessions. The final disc is the original Joe Boyd-produced album, with the entire set mastered by original engineer John Wood. The release is accompanied by a 60-page book detailing the album’s recording history.
We also turn back the clock to 2015 with Songhoy Blues‘ Music in Exile, reviewed here by Helen Gregory. You can also hear music from Ben Whitley, Roadside Graves, Turner Cody, Stringtronics, Laura Cannell, Kathryn Williams, Ancient Infinity Orchestra, Alice Boyd, The Innocence Mission, Darren Hayman and more.
