Following the release of Pigeon Song, accomplished lyrical storyteller Jeremy Tuplin offers another compelling glimpse into his next project today with the release of ‘Stranger In The Garden’. The new single is the latest preview of his upcoming fifth album, Planet Heaven, which is set for release on 17th October via Trapped Animal Records.
‘Stranger In The Garden’ is a captivating slice of lo-fi indie-rock. Rippling with fuzzy guitars, shimmering synths, and a psychedelic violin from Maris Peterlevics, the track builds a tense, atmospheric soundscape. Over a foreboding beat, Tuplin’s distinctive deep drawl delivers a narrative he describes as forcing two opposing ideas to interact: “the natural world on one side, and the human on the other.” The song casts a “weirdo, an outcast living in harmony with nature” as its unlikely hero, with beautiful backing vocals provided by Dana Gavanski.
This single paves the way for Planet Heaven, an album that sees Tuplin writing more personally than ever before. Two key themes emerged during its creation: the ephemeral nature of all things and the celestial beauty of Planet Earth. “I guess in a sense it’s my very first album… coming full circle and focusing on Earth but within the context of space,” Tuplin explains.
Recorded with a DIY ethos at home, the album embraces an intimate, low-fidelity feel, weaving in field recordings of birds and ocean waves alongside contributions from a host of guests. It’s a quiet rebellion against destruction, a celebration of the natural world, and a stunning reflection on what it means to exist. Alongside Dana Gavanski, Planet Heaven also features guest vocals from Kerry Devine, heka, Dominic Silvani and Adrian Crowley.
