In a truly unique setting, Brooke Sharkey has unveiled a live video for her new single, “Guardian.” The video, a testament to artistic collaboration and community, was filmed at Fosskok, a vacant vicarage near Lørenskog, Norway, that has been transformed into a vibrant hub for over 30 artists. This collective, comprising everyone from visual artists and filmmakers to chefs and gardeners, offers a space where diverse ideas and perspectives can be shared and expressed.
The live performance of “Guardian” captures the essence of this creative environment. Sharkey is joined by Aksel Undset on guitar and backing vocals, Håkon Aase on viola and backing vocals, and Sigrid Aase on backing vocals, creating an intimate and deeply moving arrangement. Filmed and edited by Mina Wang Andersen and Adrian Axel, the video and performance beautifully convey the song’s reflective mood.
“Guardian” is a taste of what’s to come from Sharkey’s third album, Under Stones, which is set for release on September 4th. The album, a collection of songs that document her journey of settling into a new country, explores the inner and outer landscapes of a life in transition. With influences ranging from the Norwegian landscape to the works of poets like Mary Oliver and Rumi, and featuring a blend of collaborations and field recordings from her local area.
