Darren Hayman and His Electric Guitars have released a new single, “It’s Gotten Quiet Round Here,” accompanied by a uniquely crafted video. The track is the latest offering from the forthcoming album, Amazing Things, due out on August 22nd via WIAIWYA.
The song, like the album, explores the profound experience of losing a friend and the silence that follows. Hayman counters this void by continuing to speak to his departed pal, a theme beautifully captured in the track’s heartfelt lyrics. Eschewing a morose tone, the single is instead filled with joyful, melodic guitars and Hayman’s characteristically pretty tunes.
In a touching tribute, the video was filmed entirely using a £20 Japanese thermal printing toy camera, a nod to his late friend’s love of toys.
The former Hefner frontman recorded Amazing Things almost entirely solo, focusing on the electric guitar to create a sound that is both rich and rewarding. The album confronts the sadness of death while celebrating life and love with heartfelt warmth.
