Californian guitarist Mason Lindahl has announced a pair of new albums, Joshua / Same Day Walking, set for release on 24th September 2025 via the Mt. Brings Death label.
To launch the project, Lindahl has shared the lead single “Little Sister,” a transfixing offering from Same Day Walking. The track’s iridescent beauty is built upon grainy synth pads and Lindahl’s swift, placid guitar work, masterfully conveying a “glacial realisation of grief.”
Though released together, the two albums chart distinct sonic territories. Joshua, recorded in Northern California with producer Robby Moncrieff (Dirty Projectors), is a warmer, hazier affair. In contrast, Same Day Walking—recorded in Iceland with Moncrieff and two-time GRAMMY winner Sam Slater (Joker, Chernobyl)—is windswept and stark, reflecting its icy origins.
Building on the acclaim for his debut, Kissing Rosy in the Rain, which KLOF Mag’s Glenn Kimpton praised as “fresh and vital” (it was also one of his Top 10 albums of 2021), Lindahl’s virtuosity is celebrated for its wonderful imperfections and emotive depth. Fellow guitarist Hayden Pedigo has even described him as “the greatest living guitar player.”
Fans can catch Lindahl live when he supports the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at New York’s Beacon Theatre on 29th July. Joshua / Same Day Walking is available to pre-order now, and “Little Sister” is out everywhere.
