The exploratory trio Bitchin Bajas have announced their latest full-length offering, Inland See, due for release on September 26th via Drag City. This new album follows their 2022 release, Bajascillators, and finds the group—comprised of Cooper Crain, Rob Frye, and Daniel Quinlivan—delving deeper into their signature soundscapes.
Inland See is composed of four immersive tracks, largely conceived and written while the band was on the road. The album was recorded at the esteemed Electrical Audio in Studio B by Crain, capturing the raw, spatial dynamics of the trio playing together. Notably, the recordings are presented without any post-production reverb, offering a more natural and authentic listening experience.
Accompanying the album announcement is the lead single, “Skylarking,” which arrives with an engaging visualiser crafted by Nick Ciontea. The track is a testament to the band’s evolving sound, blending a steady four-on-the-floor rhythm with ethereal, jazz-inflected melodies and their foundational drone textures. This creates what the band describes as a “space dance” that culminates in an “oxygen bath” of sound before receding into a tranquil silence.
Following the release of Inland See, Bitchin Bajas will embark on an extensive North American tour, which will include a series of dates supporting the iconic band Stereolab. Tickets for the tour are currently on sale. This new album and tour signal a period of creative resurgence for the trio, born from a spirit of discovery and the spontaneous energy of the road.
