Back in March, The Deep Dark Woods shared their tender psychedelic waltz new single Ruby. Today, those masters of hushed resonance have announced their new LP, The Circle Remains, set for an October 3, 2025, release via Victory Pool Records. This isn’t a band that screams for your attention; rather, they gently pull you into their orbit, each successive offering feeling less like a statement and more like an effortless refinement of an already potent craft. These nine new tracks, which include that earlier single, Ruby, promise a journey through shadowy, inviting soundscapes, conjuring images of a midnight session in a fireplace-lit cabin, you, the listener, settled comfortably in a well-worn armchair.
Today, the band shares the album’s lead single and visualiser, Traded In Your Name, a track frontman Ryan Boldt reveals was “originally written during the Changing Faces sessions (reviewed here), but it never quite came together.” Resurrected during the new album’s recording, it was captured in one or two takes, a testament to the band’s intuitive synergy. Boldt highlights Evan Cheadle’s “beautiful harmony” on the chorus as potentially his “favourite harmony ever recorded on one of my songs.”

The Circle Remains continues The Deep Dark Woods’ proud songwriting lineage, where influences are felt rather than overtly displayed. The spectral presence of ’60s and ’70s folk-rock hangs in the air, a spiritual kin to The Band’s early ’70s masterpieces, yet never veers into mere imitation. This “out of time” quality is further amplified by the album’s analog-heavy recording process with producer David Parry (Alice Phoebe Lou, Loving), lending a burnished warmth that prioritises the musicianship. Boldt’s voice, often kissed by the gentle haze of tape delay, floats with a mercurial grace, playfully teasing out melodies in this rarefied realm he’s carved out for himself.
