BC Camplight, the moniker of virtuoso songwriter and pianist Brian Christinzio, has today released his compelling new album, A Sober Conversation, via Bella Union. The collection chronicles the past two years of Christinzio’s life, confronting childhood trauma and embracing sobriety to deliver his most revealing work yet.
To mark the release, BC Camplight has shared a lyric video by Jessica BonBon (aka Jess Branney of Peaness, who is also on backing vocals) for the final album track, “Bubbles In The Gasoline”. Christinzio describes the track as “a much-needed break,” reflecting a newfound optimism and a rejection of self-fulfilling prophecies of disaster.
A Sober Conversation showcases Christinzio at the peak of his powers, weaving intricate melodies with tragic-comedic lyrical narratives. The album, described as a sometimes haunting quasi-concept record, aims to offer solace and courage to listeners.
BC Camplight will embark on an extensive UK/EU tour this fall, including major headline shows at London’s Roundhouse and Manchester’s O2 Apollo (Tickets).
