INNI-K has shared her energetic new single and video, Beatha. Inspired by a veg-growing course, it could be an anthem for self-sufficiency. Get Planting!
Taken from her upcoming fourth studio album, INNI-K, the alias of Eithne Ní Chatháin, has shared her latest single and video, Beatha. As if triggered by spring, there’s a pulsing earthy energy to Beatha, emphasised by catchy beats and a great off-kilter fiddle riff that gives the song an untamed sense of freedom, inspired by the vitality of life and the mysterious forces of nature.
INNI-K shared: “This song really began with a fascination I experienced during a veg-growing course. We had an expert come in on composting and I was really mesmerised by the dark humus he showed us – the various matter transforming over time into this incredibly nourishing dark compound. It made me think of life’s invisible intelligences, miraculous forces moving continuously toward life, toward living!”
Beatha could be an anthem for self-sufficiency. Get planting!
The track was brought further to life in the studio through the production and musicianship of Seán Mac Erlaine and the rhythmic textures of Matthew Jacobson on percussion.
The accompanying music video, directed by Nestor Romero Clemente, captures the essenece and energy of the song beautifully (the lyrics are also below).
“Beatha” is now available to stream and purchase on Bandcamp and all major streaming platforms.
