As Thomas Blake said in his review of Time is Glass, there is no such thing as ‘just another Six Organs Of Admittance album’ and across 2024, Ben Chasny spoilt us with three. Alongside Time is Glass – cerebral music that’s brimful of soul – he collaborated with Sam Shackleton on Jinxed by Being – as uneasy as it is beautiful, teetering at times on the stark edges between genres that shouldn’t work together but somehow do – and sound composer Twig Harper on Companion Rises (Twig Harper Remix) on which Harper was given an unlimited brief to ‘reunmanage’ Chasny’s 2020 opus.
Six Organs Of Admittance has just kicked off their most expansive European tour in ages (including London, Brighton and Dublin), beginning with him playing the length of Portugal in duet with Norberto Lobo as part of the Centenary Celebrations of Carlos Paredes’ Birth, for whom the music of the author of Movimento Perpétuo reinforces their belief in art every day. Chasny then sets out on the road to play shows through the UK, Benelux, the Iberian Peninsula, Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe. Details below.
