Following the earlier release of his single ‘Sights Beyond The Sky’, tomorrow sees the release of Sam Carter‘s new single, Silver Horizon, which we can reveal is also the title track of his fifth solo album, due for release on August 16th (pre-order here). The album’s release will be followed by a UK Tour in September/October (details below). To celebrate the announcement, Sam is sharing a live session of him performing Silver Horizon at Yellow Arch Studios in Sheffield, filmed by Northern Cowboys.
Sam shared: I’m joined here by the brilliant rhythm section that plays with Cinematic Orchestra: Luke Flowers on drums and Sam Vicary on bass. Silver Horizon is a kind of prayer from the perspective of a person at a turning point. They’re asking the future—symbolised by the horizon—for the peace and reassurance they know it can’t give by its very nature, but they’re asking all the same. It’s that hope for the future and hope in the face of adversity that is the album’s central theme.
Sam’s new single is released tomorrow, and his new album, Silver Horizon, will be released on Captain Records on Friday, August 16th. Produced by Andy Bell, the core band includes bassist Ben Nicholls (Seth Lakeman, Nadiene Shah), drummer Evan Jenkins (Robben Ford, Matt Scholfield), and guitarist Stuart McCallum (The Breath) on several tracks. Guests include Rowan Rheingans (Lady Maisery, The Rheingans Sisters) on backing vocals and Ian Stephenson (Kan, Baltic Crossing) on harmonium.
