Over his fifteen-year career, Sam Carter has picked up some worthy accolades and featured widely on KLOF Mag. His last studio album, Home Waters, was described by KLOF’s Glenn Kimpton as a ‘must-have,’ who went on to describe it as a concise, cohesive, and self-assured album that perfectly balances and blends ace songwriting with considered and finely judged arrangements. Sam’s fifth studio album is set for release this summer, and audiences will get an early chance to hear songs in a series of intimate settings as he kicks off his solo tour today, beginning at Birmingham’s Kitchen Garden Cafe.
To mark the start of his tour, Sam is sharing his new single ‘Sights Beyond The Sky’, which was recorded by renowned producer Andy Bell at Red Kite studio in Wales and features Stuart McCallum (The Breath) on electric guitar, Ben Nicholls (Seth Lakeman) on bass, and Evan Jenkins on drums. Beginning with his signature intricate fingerstyle guitar work before expanding into an epic dream-like soundscape, this space-themed ode to the transformative power of a relationship points to a marked shift in his writing style, hinting at an exciting development in his work ahead of the album release.
Sam shared:
“One of the things I love most about the significant people in my life is that connecting with them allows me to see into new realms, expanding my universe. This song is a space-themed ode to that experience. The telescope seemed a perfect symbol. Here, it is expertly rendered by Joe, aged 8, ably assisted by my designer friends Jon and Ross (Joe’s dad) of JMG Studio.”
