Originally recorded for her ‘Another Life’ album (produced by the legendary John Parish), acclaimed singer-songwriter and self-taught musician Nadine Khouri has announced the release of a brand new recording ‘Lo-fi Moon (Live at Karma Studios)’. The single, available to stream from May 2nd, comes ahead of a series of solo dates in the UK, France and Germany as a special guest of Barry Adamson (see details below).
The new stripped-down version, in which Khouri trades grand piano for guitar, features the shimmering harmonies of Lizzy O’Connor and Joe Harvey-Whyte (The Hanging Stars, The Magic Numbers) on atmospheric pedal steel. The results speak for themself; Khouri’s heavenly vocals are placed forward in the mix, with the backdrop of guitar, pedal steel and harmonies accentuating her velvety presence. Her unhurried delivery highlights her balance of calm and poetic grace and makes for an incredibly intense and intimate listening experience. It’s one of the most beautiful performances I’ve heard in a long time, and the overall minimalistic approach to the recording demonstrates how potent a singer Khouri is, something John Parish has commented on in respect of her latest album, Another Life (2022), referencing her Lebanese homeland that she left during the civil war.
