Canadian experimental singer-songwriter Ora Cogan releases her new album, ‘Formless‘, in Europe on May 31st via Prism Tongue. The release is supported by a tour (along with her close-knit band) throughout Europe this June, with UK shows in Brighton, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Sheffield & London.
Her latest single, Cowgirl, is accompanied by a new video. Cogan describes the track as “…a haunted acid trip of intense sorrow, deep solitude, and dark nights of the soul. A slow jam reckoning with the absurdity of depression and social isolation in grief.” As she demonstrated with her video for Sleep (by Natasha Lavdovsky), Cogan’s videos are always visually striking. Directed by K Bray Jorstad, Cowgirl is no exception; it’s like having David Lynch turning up to your college gig with a Super 8.
Formless is described as finding beauty, absurdity, humour, and unlikely joy in the bleakest of times. …With a singular voice as much sensation as sound, Ora Cogan seeks out new realities within the smoke-and-mirrors labyrinth of our cruel society.
