Courtesy of Jesse Sheppard, watch Liam Grant perform Androscoggin River Ragg from his highly acclaimed latest album Amoskeag. This album of original material was released through Carbon and Feeding Tube as a limited edition vinyl album, each with a custom-printed Riso ink sleeve. As Glenn Kimpton said in his review, “This commitment and attention to detail extends to the music.”
For the album version of Androscoggin, Liam was accompanied by Mike Gangloff and Grayson McGuire, who also accompanied Liam on Last Night on Dead River. Between them, they played a variety of instruments, including shruti box, singing bowls, jaw harp, and bowed banjo.
The upbeat nature of this one works sweetly alongside more challenging and abstract songs on here, as well as the denser guitar sections, giving the whole album balance and diversity. The whole thing is so well-played and highly creative that it’ll have you hooked.
Glenn Kimpton
In summarizing the album, Kimpton had two words: fuckin’ ace. Liam recently finished a tour with Mike Gangloff, whom Gareth Thompson interviewed for KLOF Mag here.
