Ahead of their UK Spring tour (details below), Bristol-based trio Tarren have released their uplifting new single, Claudia’s, taken from their new album Outside Time, which will be released in September 2024.
Like the music from their debut, Claudia’s is a joyful tune written by Danny for a friend when she was overcoming adversity. Tarren present an arrangement in their trademark style featuring modular phrases that weave in and out of each other to give the tune an infectious pulse.
Featuring Sid Goldsmith (Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith, Awake Arise), Alex Garden (The Drystones, Harriet Riley & Alex Garden: Sonder), and Danny Pedler – (Pedler // Russell), Tarren have gained a well-earned reputation for innovative arrangements of traditional and original Folk-inspired material.
Their debut album, Revel, released in 2022, originated from the 2021 lockdown, with the trio sharing their compositions over the internet before finally being able to meet and record in person. In his review of the album, KLOF Mag’s Billy Rough concluded:
The sounds of fiddle and viola, cittern and English concertina, and accordion and hurdy gurdy have rarely sounded better, nor as much fun, as they do here – a testament to the talents of the trio and a confident and welcome signifier that English folk music is in very safe hands.
Claudia’s is available on streaming platforms.
