This week’s Mixtape is an unrushed offering from our KLOF series that opens with the Henry Lowther Band and a track taken from their 1970 album ‘Child Song’.
We’ve included a live set featuring East-Coast psychedelic combo Elkhorn and Pelt’s Mike Gangloff, with an epic raga-like performance recorded on a 2022 collaborative tour. Likewise, the track from Missouri-based guitarist/multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser Chaz Prymek’s (Lake Mary) is taken from Slow Grass, one long piece of music totalling 40 minutes, separated into a few movements and split over two sides.
Graceful moments are also provided by Bristol-based finger-style guitarist Glenn Kimpton with And from this Angle, taken from last year’s Ruminate!
Glenn Kimpton has quietly carved out a niche as one of the most inventive, intuitive and accomplished guitarists in the business. His style sits somewhere between the English folk and the American pastoral traditions, but the execution draws on the musical language of experimentalism and free improvisation.
Thomas Blake
There’s also music from Jim White with a track from his first solo album, All Hits: Memories; numün, the NYC psychedelic instrumental trio, with a track from their second album, Book of Beyond; and Sage Alyte, the brainchild of Roxane Métayer (Disques du chevet, Morc, Krut) and David Jarrín Zabala (Disposición Asoleada, Lexi Disques).
Finally, there is a track from Micah Frank and Chet Doxas’ Larum project and their latest live album, The Music of Hildegard von Bingen | Live at Public Records.
