Our latest Monday Morning Brew playlist opens with Dawn Landes and her new single, ‘Hard is the Fortune of All Womankind (1830)’, taken from her new album, The Liberated Woman’s Songbook, a collection of reimagined folk songs from a 1971 songbook that chronicles a history of women’s activism from the Civil War to the high times of Women’s Lib.
Included is the new single from Aisha Burns, a cover of Gillian Welch’s ‘Look at Miss Ohio’ – on which she reveals: “Look at Miss Ohio” is a song that’s been with me from the beginning. In my early 20s, as I was just beginning to delve into performance beyond the violin, it was the first song I ever sang in front of anyone…”
