This week’s Monday Morning Brew opens with Demi Spriggs, an artist who lives between London and Athens. The track is taken from a boy called ear, her new EP that tells new folk stories and feminist readings of classic folk tales. Also featured is a track from a recently discovered private cassette release from Penny Carson Nichols titled Trinidad Seed (FFO Sibylle Baier, Connie Converse, Molly Drake, and Vashti Bunyan):
Wise, wistful and darkly humorous, the ten home recorded songs of Penny Carson Nichols appeared as a private cassette release for friends in 1988, but remained unknown to the world until their recent rediscovery in a Colorado thrift store by archivist Lisa Wheeler.
There is also music from Melbourne artist Esther Edquist aka Sweet Whirl, a 2011 track from Laura J Martin and The Simonsound, Naima Bock, Louis Cato, Penny Carson Nichols, Kat Frankie & B O D I E S, Mary Lattimore, Twain, Feist, Marina Allen, Makushin, Myriam Gendron, Mary Elizabeth Remington, Sally Anne Morgan, Maxine Funke, Natalie Jane Hill, Emma Tricca & Bridget St John and Luluc.
