Liner Notes
Our latest Mix opens with ‘When The Tide Rolls In’, the latest single from Amelia Coburn, taken from her debut album ‘Between The Moon and The Milkman’, produced by Bill Ryder-Jones (we premiered the video here). Also featured on Folk Radio yesterday is the brand new single from Kathryn Williams and The Withered Hand, who have also announced a collaborative album (more here).
A newcomer to most will many will be Demi Spriggs, whose first release on Team Love – a boy called ear – is out now.
From The Children’s Hour, featuring Josephine Foster, Andy Bar and Dave Pajo (Papa M, Aerial M), we have their single ‘Bright Lights’, taken from their “Going Home” long player to be released on Drag City on Feb 23rd.
Plus a track from F.J. McMahon’s first and only album, Spirit Of The Golden Juice, released in 1969 and a more recent discovery – a reissue of a private cassette release titled Trinidad Seed by Penny Carson Nichols:
Wise, wistful and darkly humorous, the ten home-recorded songs of Penny Carson Nichols appeared as a private cassette release for friends in 1988 but remained unknown to the world until their recent rediscovery in a Colorado thrift store by archivist Lisa Wheeler. With liner notes by Wheeler and remastering by Chris Cohen, Penny’s laconic style will undoubtedly appeal to all fans of Sibylle Baier, Connie Converse, Molly Drake, and Vashti Bunyan.
