As we run down towards the New Year, I’m sharing some of our most popular mixtapes from over the years.
This Mixtape went out in January 2021 and featured a number of poetry readings placed to music, including readings by Beat writers Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, which I remixed to music by Calexico from Feast of Wire (2003) and Hot Rail (2001). Lawrence Ferlinghetti, the poet, painter and owner of the world-famous literary landmark that is City Lights Bookstore (and publishing house) in San Francisco, also features. The month after this Mixtape came out, Lawrence passed away (February 22, 2021). He was 101 years old (read my article about him here).
You can also hear two tracks from We Come the Sun (on Decca Records) – The album was composed by Cerys Matthews with Hidden Orchestra and features 10 UK poets.
