Alongside a handful of new releases (more on those in a moment), this week’s Folk Show also delves into some seventies folk with Scottish traditional group Ossian, Lal & Norma Waterson, East of Eden, Tia Blake, Steeleye Span, Shelagh McDonald, Peter Bellamy, Kristen Nogues, Robin Williamson & His Merry Band and a tad earlier (1968) with Pentangle and Tim Hart & Maddy Prior.
The recently released Ballads of Seduction, Fertility And Ritual Slaughter (reviewed here) lends itself well to this era with their reimagining of the 1973 British folk horror film The Wicker Man (we include tracks from Magpahi and Meg Baird – which also inspired our British Folk Horror artwork for the show).
We also have music from three of our Featured Albums of the Month: Rachel Sermanni‘s new album ‘Dreamer Awake’ (reviewed here), Gilmore & Roberts’ ‘Documenting Snapshots’ (reviewed here), and The Gentle Good‘s ‘Galargan’ (reviewed here).
And our Artists of the Month: Kathryn Tickell & The Darkening with a track from their new album ‘Cloud Horizons’ (reviewed here).
There are also new tracks from Ulster trio TRÚ, Mick Flannery, Lainey Dempsey (read our review) and John Francis Flynn.
Enjoy the trip.
