I recently shared a live 1971 video of Pentangle performing Blues In Time. As I mentioned then, shortly after this performance, they would record Reflection in March (released in October 1971), produced by Bill Leader and released on Transatlantic – their last for that label. The following year would see the release of their final album, Solomon’s Seal.
From that same ‘BBC In Concert’ recording, made on 4th January 1971, here they are performing the bluesy ‘I’ve Got a Feeling‘ featuring the full lineup this time of Jacqui McShee, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Danny Thompson and Terry Cox. They also performed this track on the original double LP Sweet Child, recorded at IBC Studios, London, in August 1968, with Shel Talmy producing.
“Trying to describe the Pentangle’s music is like trying to describe a sunset. You can talk of the colours, but the overall effect has to be seen to be appreciated. To appreciate the Pentangle, you have to listen”.
Tony Wilson on Sweet Child
