Australian folk quartet The Heart Collectors are returning to the UK in May 2024 for their first tour since 2018. This touring will be preceded by their latest 13-track album, The Space Between (out on 20th October 2023), and today they are sharing the first fruits of this release – the celestial single & video, Sirius B.
Together with the video below, this transcendent Folk-Pop ballad combines the hopeful discovery of love with nuanced and wistful mysteries. The setting of the film clip adds a contrasting depth to the release. “Traveling through the sandstorms of New Mexico to find ourselves in White Sands National Park was both chilling and awe inspiring”, as lead singer, Kymrie explains… “Visually, we wanted to explore the otherworldly quality of this unique landscape. Driving past White Sands Missile Range and Test Facility, we became very aware of our proximity to the Trinity Site, a location marking the detonation of the first Nuclear Bomb.”
The Heart Collectors find the transformative quality of sound current in their expansive expression of love. Visual references to hermetic art and mysticism lend to the lyrical interweaving of the literal and metaphorical. All the while, binary star ‘Sirius B’ shines as the heroine of this Bowie-esque soundscape.
The Space Between is released on 20th October 2023.
The Heart Collectors Are:
Kymrie Henge – Lead Vocals, Percussion, Piano, Bodhran.
Reuben Loire – Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar
Mobius Barnaby – Vocals, Cello, Stomp
Tristan DaFoe – Vocals, Mandolin, Banjo, Guitar
The whole raison d’être of the Australian quartet is to, ‘bring positivity, rather than reinforcing the negative. There is an enthusiasm and optimism in all of the creative current that comes with The Heart Collectors.’
‘The Space Between’ unfolded as a happy discovery of elements ‘past, present and future’. A mix of new compositions, songs re-worked from the band’s (now unavailable) first album that has a live and organic vibrancy, complimenting a collection of completely new sonic explorations, and a carefully curated selection of covers that exemplify the band’s highly skilled musicianship.
