Bristol-based singer Izzy Auty-Dawe drops her most personal single tomorrow, titled Front Row Seats. The accompanying music video is appropriately set in the stalls, where her raw and open lyrics take on an added weight that many will relate to.
The narrative of the single hits an emotional note many of us can relate to –wanting to help someone who doesn’t want to be helped. With haunting vocals and guitar, Izzie has now been joined by a string section and a choir. The harmony between all the musical components is melancholic as she relives these real and defining moments that have made this single what it is.
Having been described by Izzie herself as ‘the most ‘me’ in a song I’ve ever written’, she says, ‘In a nutshell, this single is about a friend that I am no longer friends with, which is incredibly sad. I watched her deteriorate before my eyes, and there was nothing I could do. I had the imagery of me watching at the front row of a theatre while they were crumbling down in-front of me.’
From grief to friendship, Izzie sees her music as a personal diary on her journey through life and is taking us on that journey with her. She manages time and time again to put things we all feel into the perfect words and help us reflect on our own experiences with the perfect backing track to listen to. Her previous songs have tackled the difficult issues of grief, fallouts and coming of age. Izzie plans to continue to release songs that represent her as a songwriter.
Front Row Seats is out on 12th July 2023 via HUBB Records.
