Last month saw the release of Even Days Dissolve, the new album from guitarist Scott William Urquhart and Constant Follower, the songwriting vehicle of Stirling-based musician Stephen McAll. In his review of the album, Thomas Blake described the album as bathed in a distinctly Scottish light. Its songs range from carefully observed vignettes to widescreen sonic explorations, all of which have an affinity with the hills and rivers and seas of the duo’s homeland and are rooted in its linguistic and poetic heritage. He concludes, “Once you immerse yourself in Even Days Dissolve, it becomes an immensely rewarding, sensual listen, ripe with understated strength.”
They have shared a beautiful and haunting stop animation video by the young Japanese animator Tsumugi Yagi for ‘Space Between Stars’, which also features otherworldly costumes by Hana Yagi. Talking about the video, Tsumugi Yagi said:
“I live in Tokyo, there’re always times when I feel chaos around me. Constant Follower songs create room to stop and look at the world. I wanted to depict this relationship between the outside world and my inner world.”
