On 30th June, Brigid Mae Power releases her new album Dream From The Deep Well, an album likened to daubing new colours on a much-loved canvas, a way of waving back at her rootsy past and embracing new beginnings – a unique marriage of traditional stylings and very modern melodies – modern folk for modern folk.
We’ve already shared videos for the title track, Counting Down, and today marks the release of her third album single, ‘The Waterford Song,’ a dreamy psych-tinged offering accompanied by a new lyric video.
While heavily steeped in the language of nature – soft earth, growing trees, the rough and sweet ocean waves, the coconut-scented gorse bloom, a kestrel flying overhead…they all share a strong connection to place. “’The Waterford Song’ is my meditation on the place where my family have lived for over 1,000 years. I played at a festival there on this huge country estate and all of the trees there had been planted by my grandfather. It was an experience that allowed me new perspectives.”
