Some of you may recall that the acclaimed Canadian-American duo Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves were added to the lineup of this year’s Transatlantic Sessions, whose inaugural event took place at Celtic Connections. They joined a number of other special guests, including Martha Wainwright, Liam Ó Maonlai and Amythyst Kiah, for an unforgettable evening which we reviewed here.
Not long after that, we shared the news that Allison and Tatiana had a UK tour planned. Well, that time is now upon us as their tour got underway this week, shortly after a Republic of Ireland run that included Baltimore Fiddle Fair. If you’re unfamiliar with duo I strongly recommend you go and check them out and grab this rare opportunity to watch them perform live (see dates below).
The duo draw on a range of influences across folk, old time Americana and bluegrass. Their stellar musicianship has been recognised with many plaudits coming their way, including a 2023 JUNO nomination and two 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards: Instrumental Group of the Year and Traditional Album of the Year for Hurricane Clarice (read our album review here). Here they are performing ‘I Would Not Live Always’.
