Many of our regular readers will be familiar with Track Dogs featuring Garrett Wall (vocals and guitar), Dave Mooney (mandolin and bass), Robbie K. Jones (Cajon) and Howard Brown (trumpet). Last year, they struck up an alliance and friendship with Show of Hands, culminating in an electrifying killer set for the headline gig of Shrewsbury Folk Festival – they then went on to release a joint 23-track live album.
On 6th October, Track Dogs will release their new album “Blind Summits & Hidden Dips”. The album’s title comes from their recent jaunt around the UK with Show of Hands, when Robbie made light of these particular northern road signs at a gig in Whitby. Although initially the title was intended as a joke, it later made sense as a reference to the ups and downs of the music industry and touring itself.
The album consists of 7 originals, 2 cover songs plus a special ode to Les Barker and is perhaps their most quintessential Track Dogs album to date. “Cover Your Tracks” is the first single released, the video for which you can watch below:
The band play the Royal Albert Hall with Show of Hands on April 10th and follow it with a two-week tour of the UK. They’ll be back for more concerts in the summer with performances at Beardy Folk, Gate to Southwell and Wickham Music Festival among others.
There’s a swelling confidence that enables them to experiment both musically and in their storytelling. In so doing, they’ve produced a set of songs that are bound to delight their many established followers and ensnare a host of new ones.
